How To Use This Site is designed to be a simple as possible to use while also ensuring security of our users information and content.

By registering for and using this website you agree to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

Anyone may view the videos on this website.

Note that we do not accept photographs (other than thumbnails of your video, if you have one).

In order to publish a video to the website you must register. Registration is a two step process, after entering the requested information you will be sent an email asking you to confirm your registration and set a password. Please keep this information in a secure manner.

Once you are registered you may upload videos and leave comments.

We ask that you limit the number of uploads per registered user to 2 videos total per event. Users who upload more that 2 videos may be prevented from uploading. Multiple uploads of the same video will be removed.

To Upload A Video:

  1. Log in using the link at the top right of any page.
  2.  Once logged in, you will see next to your avatar in the top right an icon for a video camera. Click it to show a drop down menu.
  3. Select either “Upload Video” or “Embed.”
    1. Upload Video:
      1. Click in the box to bring up a file selector. Note the Maximum upload file size and the Allowed Formats.
      2. Select your file. An upload progress bar will be shown.
      3. Once the file is uploaded a new form will be shown. Enter a title, a description of the video, and select a Category (we suggest Taps Across America 2023).
      4. If you do not wish to allow comments on your video, please uncheck the “Allow comments” box.
      5. Review all your information, edit anything as needed and then click the “Save Changes” button.
      6. Your video will be processed and held for review.
    2. Embed Video:
      1.  Add the URL (web address) of the video you would like to include.
      2. Once the video is imported a new form will be shown. Enter a Title and Description.
      3. Uncheck the “Allow comments” box if you do not wish to allow comments.
      4. Select “Import.”
      5. Your video will be reviewed.

      Depending on the amount of videos uploaded at any one time there can be a delay of up to 3 business days before your video is reviewed. Please do not contact us before 3 full business days have passed.

      Note that the Administrators of reserve the right to remove any video at any time for any reason, without notice.

Upload/Embed tips

Once your video is uploaded/embedded you are presented with a page where you can fill out information about the video.

Title – please fill in a short, descriptive title. At a minimum, please put your name or the location in here.

Description – Below the Title is a text field where you can fill in more information about your video.

Tags – are a way for visitors to find your video. You may insert up to 3. Useful tags may be the location, name of cemetery or town or memorial that you sounded Taps.

Categories – we recommend you select Taps Across America 2023.

Upload Image – you’ll see a blue button that allows you to upload a thumbnail image if you wish. This is optional, if you do not, you’ll see the image that will be provided.

Save Changes – the red button at the bottom right is where you will finalize the upload and have your video placed in the database. There may be a delay of up to 2 days before your video appears on the website.

Currently TapsTube can only display embedded links from YouTube. If you have uploaded your video to another website, your video will not be displayed.

Use the “Search” box that is at the top of any page and at the top of the sidebar. Suggested search terms would be the name of the bugler, or a location (state, city, cemetery, etc.) 

Alternatively, if you know the name of the bugler, visit the Members link at the bottom of any page, and search by Name.

Follow these steps:
-Log in
-Select Dashboard in drop down from your Avatar.
-Select Videos along the left menu.
-Click the 3 vertical dots under the Action Column (far right).

-Select Trash.

Log in to the site and then click on your avatar at the top right of the page. From the drop-down menu select “Settings.”

Please note you cannot edit your Username.

Option 2 –
have to sign up or in – no cost – will reduce file size (that’s a good thing)

Option 3 –
Under advanced options select video codec H.264 and under CRF select 21 Good Quality Medium size.

Video upload file types that are currently supported are: mp4, m4v, webm, ogv, flv.
